Our Accounting Managers lead client relationships and ensure their service level is matched to support the growth of a successful, profitable, and compliant business. They act as fractional CFOs to clients and bring a wealth of accounting advisory knowledge to the relationship. Our managers are well-prepared, professional, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy. They are relentless in their quest to find all opportunities for their clients to be successful; whether matching them with additional services or directing them toward professional resources as needed.
Their focus is two-fold; they will manage a team of Senior and Staff accountants and lead strategic business conversations for a wide range of clients. Accounting Managers identify improvement areas within their teams and support them in achieving an advanced understanding of small business accounting. They are their direct report’s coaches in career advancement, and hold them to high standards of professionalism, client relationship building, accounting knowledge, and quality work-output.
Internally, our Accounting Managers work with the leadership team and cross-departmentally to support initiatives that streamline processes, and educate and mentor colleagues. They identify any opportunities for improvement in all of these interactions.
Our Accounting Managers Are Equipped To Manage The Following Areas Of Responsibility:
- Own and grow client relationships:
- Oversee and lead CFO-level client meetings.
- Be proactive problem-solvers and course correctors on behalf of the client. and advise clients on course corrections or alternate options as needed.
- Be aware of, and responsible for client economics and profitability.
- Upsell, offer knowledge and helpful solutions to strengthen and grow the relationship.
- Work cross-departmentally to support client needs–always prioritizing professionalism and timely communication.
- Management of team members:
- Manage, train, and mentor direct reports.
- Work delegation to Seniors and Staff.
- Provide timely feedback and lead annual reviews.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring as needed.
- Driver and Manager of culture within their teams and firm-wide.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline processes and make systems more efficient, while ensuring compliance.
- Leads internal initiatives. Develops training documentation and owns internal training for their areas of expertise.
- Identification of strategic growth opportunities and initiatives. Drives firm-wide success by identifying and implementing key objectives and outcomes.
- Tool development (i.e. Digital Workbook)
- Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate advanced knowledge of their client businesses.
Our future Accounting Manager brings the following education and credentials to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, and/or finance.
- 6-8 years of related experience.
Our Accounting Managers Bring the Following Accounting Skills and Experience:
- CFO level expertise including high-level financial interpretation, forecasting, budgeting, and modeling acumen.
- Financial close mastery.
- Advanced systems knowledge: QuickBooks Online, Amazon, Shopify, Fathom, Cin7, etc.
- Industry-specific knowledge within our client base: omnichannel inventory-based companies, creative or project-based companies, Tech startups, etc.
- Accounting and Tax methodology knowledge.
- Market trend awareness of small business economics, general accounting themes, etc.
Our Accounting Managers Bring the Following Leadership Skills and Experience:
- Understands and manages utilization and staffing.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
