Built is looking for an experienced Data Platform Manager to drive forward Built's suite of customer-facing data products and to empower internal analytics and application development. In this role, you will split your time between hands-on development and people leadership activities. You will own the self-service reporting platform that our customers rely on for analytics and optimize the data pipelines that power it. You will partner with data product management to gather requirements through direct interaction with engineering teams, product teams, business partners, and others. You will optimize and track the performance of our data environments and related capabilities, constantly evolving our system to ensure performance, security, and scale for the business.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication skills, a track-record of managing a small high-performing team, proven data infrastructure design and implementation capabilities, strong business acumen, and an innate drive to deliver results for our clients. He/she will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Your primary partner in this role will be the product manager for our external data products - we are looking for someone with a strong framework for making product decisions (formal product management experience is not required).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the Data Platform Team which focuses on data modeling, warehouse performance, streaming event infrastructure and more.
  • Drive forward commercial viability of Built’s data products, including our reporting suite, data sharing offerings and future benchmarking and predictive tools while delivering an outstanding experience for our customers.
  • Ensure that all data environments are secure, performant, scalable, and highly fault tolerant.
  • Work with principal engineers and other teams to move larger engineering initiatives forward.

Qualifications

  • A desire to work in a collaborative, intellectually curious environment and a proven track record of nimble delivery
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent coursework or experience
  • 3+ years experience managing a team of at least three data engineers and 5+ years experience as an individual contributor data engineer
  • Experience managing an integrated data environment powered by Snowflake and DBT
  • 3+ years developing within and supporting business intelligence tools - we use Sigma and Tableau
  • Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kafka or other data streaming technologies
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning models

Built’s salary range for this position is $175,000-$215,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees.
