Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator

SUMMARY

Epicenter, a Memphis-area 501c3 nonprofit economic development agency that supports entrepreneurship, is looking for a talented and ambitious Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator. The successful applicant will be highly disciplined, enthusiastic, and organized. Final title, duties and responsibilities may be adapted to the successful candidate’s level of experience. This individual plays a critical role in Epicenter’s economic development mission and is a champion for new and existing businesses.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Epicenter Memphis seeks a Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator who can coordinate activities associated with running the ZeroTo510 Medical Device Accelerator and its adjoining innovation accelerators/incubators. This role will manage communications with prospective candidates, participating start-ups, start-up alumni, guest speakers, mentors, and accelerator partners.

Given ZeroTo510 is a medical device/technology accelerator, the Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator must understand the technical value of each business enrolled in the program. Therefore, this candidate should have a solid foundation in life sciences and/or the engineering field or should have a strong business foundation with some understanding of life science, engineering, and technology principles.

Additionally, the Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator will be expected to develop a familiarity with early-stage startup companies and the processes needed to grow them from concept to commercialization (sales).

The Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator must be able to demonstrate exceptional organization and planning skill. This candidate must also be detail-oriented in order to lead the accelerator on-boarding process and work cross-functionally to plan community events, coordinate resources for the accelerator, and manage the Accelerator Schedule and its day-to-day cohort and alumni activities.

Strong communications skills are also required to maintain close relationships with cohort companies, facilitators, and network partners. Occasional messaging on social media platforms may also be needed.

This individual must be a resilient self-starter who has a willingness to learn and a desire to bring forth interesting ideas that benefit the accelerator and our innovation programs. They must also be able to work well in a team environment and work efficiently independently. The Program Manager/Accelerator Administrator must be located in the Memphis, TN area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruiting:

  • Input and publish annual accelerator/incubator applications for the recruitment cycles

  • Track recruitment applications and processes via designated program management software as required by the Director of ZeroTo510

  • Participate in general recruitment activities alongside the ZeroTo510 team

  • Respond to basic inquiries from potential applicants regarding the accelerator program (e.g., timing, scheduling, content modules, etc.)

  • Coordinate screening calls and final interviews with the Director of ZeroTo510 and the Engineer in Residence

Accelerator:

  • Plan and manage the accelerator calendar and all day-to-day logistics of the accelerator - including scheduling mentors, alumni, facilitators, and other guest speakers for all accelerator events

  • Coordinate with the Director of ZeroTo510 as well as the Events and Engagement Manager (EEM) for all in-person activities - including working through travel schedules, meal planning, and social activities

  • Engage and communicate with founders, mentors, investors, and partners to ensure the successful execution of programs and events

  • Assist ZeroTo510 cohort/startups with getting settled into Memphis for hybrid visits

  • Attend and moderate all in-person and online session to ensure smooth flow of activities between the startups and guest speakers

  • Provide consistent verbal and email communication with the cohort, including a recap each session (e.g., recording) as well as reminders and invitations to future engagements

  • Coordinate all details for Demo Day/Pitch Day with the Director of ZeroTo510 and the Epicenter EEM - including event space, recording, streaming, seating, catering, timing, videography, and photography

Post-Acceleration:

  • Plan questionnaires to gather feedback after each week of the cohort as well as a final feedback questionnaire from Demo Day/Pitch Day

  • Work across the ecosystem to coordinate ongoing activities, events, and opportunities for portfolio companies and ZeroTo510 as required by the Director of ZeroTo510

  • Maintain communications with portfolio companies as they move to alumni status

  • Work with the Director of ZeroTo510 to gather feedback from each company to provide input on improved programming for future accelerator cohorts

  • Deepen relationships and maintain communication with network partners and regional referral sources

  • Assist the Director with maintaining up-to-date records on all previous cohort members and start-ups

  • Assist the Director and other members of the Epicenter team with the planning and execution of events that support our alumni community, mentor network, and the local tech and innovation community

Ongoing:

  • Build & maintain relationships with referral sources and network partners on an ongoing basis.

  • Provide messaging on social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter) to highlight the activities and successes of ZeroTo510 members, portfolio companies, and network partners

  • Represent ZeroTo510 at local and regional functions as needed

  • Assist the Director, Engineer in Residence, and Epicenter team as needed with tasks related to growing and improving program offerings (i.e., administrative help with partnership proposals, researching new tools/software for the accelerator, managing the ZeroTo510 “info” email, scheduling meetings, etc.)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field or bachelor’s degree in Business with exposure to STEM

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Excellent research and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Experience in event planning and event logistics

  • Functional in social media communications

  • Demonstrated ability to understand the strategic direction on a project and accomplish goals with minimal direction but high expectations

SALARY AND BENEFITS

$40,000-$50,000 plus standard benefits.
