This position serves on LaunchTN’s Capital team and will play an integral role in the continuing deployment of the InvestTN Fund, serving Tennessee’s startups and entrepreneurs. Performing due diligence and managing a robust and diverse pipeline of early-stage startups are key aspects of the role. This is primarily an in-office role (Nashville, TN) with some remote flexibility.
The Capital Analyst will be crucial in furthering LaunchTN’s mission of making Tennessee the most startup-friendly state in the nation by collaborating and networking with our ecosystem partners throughout the state. As such, regional travel will be required, and the ideal candidate must have reliable transportation.
The Capital Analyst will be responsible for a dynamic range of tasks, with a primary focus on due diligence and applicant management.
Meet 1:1 with founders interested in funding through InvestTN to explain our application process.
Conduct in-depth due-diligence and research on prospective companies and draft detailed investment memos for deal analysis and internal review at the monthly Investment Committee meeting.
Analysts can expect to have introductory meetings with 10+ new companies per month.
Ultimately responsible for drafting 2–3 detailed, accurate, and thorough investment memos per month, reflecting careful attention to detail and a strong command of each company’s business and market.
Manage the InvestTN applicant pipeline by screening investment candidates, communicating the process and timeline of the InvestTN program to founders, and collaborating with Capital Team members to prioritize investment opportunities.
Manage a high volume of internal and external communications — including Slack and email — with timely and professional responsiveness.
Complete all administrative responsibilities — including expense reporting and internal documentation — accurately, on time, and in accordance with established team protocols.
The Capital Analyst is expected to serve as a professional ambassador for the InvestTN Fund and build awareness of the program across Tennessee by actively and enthusiastically participating in events such as the virtual InvestTN “Ask Me Anything” events, the Southeast Capital Call, SXSW Tennessee House, 3686, and more.
Represent LaunchTN with professionalism at all external events, including adherence to team standards for dress code, conduct, and engagement when specific guidelines are provided.
Develop strong working relationships with the Regional Entrepreneur Centers and Venture Capital firms across the state.
Maximizing both the economic development and financial goals of the InvestTN program.
Exercising creative, critical, and strategic thinking through deal analysis.
Collaborating and seeking feedback before taking action to build trust amongst the team and ecosystem stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
4-Year Bachelor’s degree.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with strong attention to detail across all work products.
Team-oriented and service-minded, with a passion for early-stage innovation in Tennessee.
Ability to conduct thorough market research, analysis, and due diligence.
Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to follow established processes, meet deadlines, and manage details accurately.
Proficiency in Airtable and Google Suite.
Highly responsive communicator; comfortable managing a high volume of Slack and email correspondence with urgency and professionalism.
Up to 1 year of work experience in venture capital, finance, or a startup environment.
Strong relationship skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
Comfortable and confident in public-facing and networking environments, including multi-day conferences and events.
Excellent work ethic; fully present and engaged — brings energy and commitment to the role every day.
Interest in expanding experience and knowledge about venture capital, entrepreneurship, and economic development.
In the first 3 months…
Developed a clear understanding of the InvestTN investment thesis and SSBCI program compliance requirements.
Conducted due diligence on multiple companies; presenting at least four companies/investment memos to the Investment Committee.
Assumed full ownership of the InvestTN Pipeline and independently managing the status of all application submissions.
Demonstrated consistent adherence to team protocols, proactive communication habits, and a fully engaged presence at all team and external events.
This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week. LaunchTN’s hours of operation are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Capital Analyst role would ideally be in the office a minimum of three days per week for 7.5 hours each day, with the flexibility to complete remaining hours remotely. The role requires availability to attend events in the Nashville area and across Tennessee, including organization-wide events that may require evening and weekend work/travel outside standard business hours**.**
Salary Pay Range: $62-70k, based on experience and qualifications
