At SweetBio, we are driven to help our loved ones heal and we do so by bioengineering Manuka honey into wound care devices. While honey has been used for millennia, it is messy and limited to short-term applications. Rather than dipping or coating in honey, we incorporate it at a molecular level with gelatin and nanoparticles to create a solid, longer-lasting patch – providing the quality of an advanced skin substitute with the known benefits of honey. Our first product, Apis, is an FDA cleared (May 2019) and patent protected Manuka honey-incorporated wound care patch that protects and covers the wound, manages exudate, and provides and maintains a moist wound environment. SweetBio is a 2015 graduate of the medical device accelerator, ZeroTo510, graduate of LaunchTN’s The TENN master accelerator, finalist in Steve Case’s Rise of the Rest Pitch Competition and recently featured in 60 Minutes, Forbes and Prudential’s national “State of Us” TV commercial.
