OUR MISSION

Imagine building a better healthcare journey for cancer patients, where individuals and their loved ones feel seen, supported, and heard by their care team – both in and out of the clinic. Where fast access to high-quality care is the norm, not the exception. Where patients have access to a care navigator to guide them through their diagnosis and trusted support all along the way.

At Thyme Care, we share a passion for transforming the cancer care experience – not just for our members but also for their caregivers and loved ones, as well as those delivering and paying for their care. Today, Thyme Care is known predominantly as a cancer care navigation company enabling value-based cancer care; in the next few years, we will become a nationally recognized technology-driven and provider-centric care delivery model, reshaping the landscape of cancer care access, delivery, and experience. Our commitment runs deep—we're not satisfied with the status quo but determined to redefine it.

To make this happen, we’re building a diverse team of problem solvers and critical thinkers to drive innovation and shape the future of healthcare. If you share our vision and want to be part of something truly meaningful, we want to hear from you. Together, we can revolutionize cancer care and make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

YOUR ROLE

Thyme Care Inc., the management company to Thyme Care Medical PLLC, is the employing entity with your duties to be performed for Thyme Care Medical PLLC, a medical practice, and its patients. As a Thyme Care Triage Nurse, you will be crucial in providing first-point clinical support to our members. You will evaluate urgent and emergent health concerns related to adverse treatment effects, oncologic disease, and comorbid conditions - offering guidance, connecting members with the appropriate healthcare services and resources, and ensuring continuity of care through communication with internal and external clinicians. Your symptom assessments will be guided by high-quality, clinical decision-making informed by tools such as the ONS Telephonic Triage protocols. You will work primarily via telephonic interaction with our members. You will monitor our inbound escalation queue and respond immediately to members requiring assistance. You will document your assessment in our internal case management platform and the EHRs of our external provider team. You will report to our Nurse Team Lead and will be supported by a team of Nurse Practitioners and Medical Directors. You will also assist with other administrative projects as needed.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned by management to meet business needs.

Within your first three months, you will:

  • Complete training and learn Thyme Care systems, tools, technology, partners, and expectations.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with our Nurse leaders, Nurse Practitioners, and Medical Directors.
  • Respond promptly to inbound calls from members, assessing their symptoms and urgency of clinical needs, meeting our expectation of immediate assistance for our members
  • Utilize your oncology-specific knowledge to provide expert advice and guide members on their next steps in care
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to schedule urgent appointments, ensuring timely medical attention
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay abreast of the latest developments in oncology care
  • Have built trusting relationships with your members, where listening and empathy are the foundation for every interaction
  • Are comfortable following Care Team policies and procedures, escalation pathways, communications best practices, and documentation standards.
  • Make clinically appropriate decisions rooted in evidence-based medicine and standard triage protocols.
  • Partner with other Care Team members to surface the member’s social determinants of health and longer-term clinical needs that may be identified during a triage call.

WHAT LEADS TO SUCCESS

  • Experience. You have at least 3 years of oncology nursing experience with 2 years of telephonic triage nursing in an outpatient setting.
  • Credentials. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), a compact, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license and a willingness to obtain additional state licenses are required.

Certifications. Oncology-related certifications like Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Specialist (AOCNS), or Certified Case Manager (CCM) are preferred.

  • Task Management. You’re skilled in juggling multiple tasks and working under pressure without sacrificing organization in your communications and documentation.
  • Effective listener and communicator. You are winsome and articulate, but you always start with listening, and you hear what may not be voiced because you listen so intently to others. You build rapport and great working relationships with members and colleagues.
  • Adaptability. You have a proven track record of success within scaling businesses, fast-paced environments, and/or startups, and thrive in ambiguity. You understand that rapid business changes are par for the course.
  • Tech-Savvy. We are a technology company focused on interacting with folks during the season when they need it most. Experience with video chatting, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records, and a willingness to learn new technology is important. You will be expected to work in a quiet, remote environment.
