About the Role

Whisper Aero is a next-generation, air propulsion company that delivers thrust more cleanly, efficiently, and quietly than ever before.
We’re looking for a test engineer to join our team. This engineer will be focused on applying cutting-edge experiment design and analysis techniques to the characterization Whisper Aero products and R&D test articles. They will also apply electrical engineering expertise toward the development of flight and ground instrumentation and will have a solid track record of developing and troubleshooting instrumentation systems for aerospace systems.

What You’ll Do:
Run tests of physical Whisper Aero products and R&D test articles
Experiment Design
Data Acquisition System (DAQ) programming
Instrumentation selection and implementation
PCB design for ground and flight instrumentation systems
Assist and/or lead in the development and setup of test stations with DAQs
Assist and/or lead test campaigns for Whisper Aero products and R&D test articles
Static and wind tunnel testing
Basic test rig mechanical and electrical/electronic design
Communicate designs and results to the team effectively

What You’ll Need:
U.S. Person status is required, as this position may access export controlled data
Ability to work in groups and individually
Experience in a fast-paced design environment
Strong background in statistics, especially related to experiment design and data analysis
Modern Design of Experiments expertise (Design-Expert etc.)
Strong software background in both experimental analysis and experimental system development
Signal processing/filtering background
Demonstrable skill in electronics troubleshooting
Deep understanding of aerospace system instrumentation
Experience in PCB design using Eagle or similar
Embedded programming skill with code on bare metal, linux systems, and hobby grade systems (Arduino, etc.)

Bonus Qualifications:
System Identification (in-flight and ground test) (SIDPAC or similar)
Parameter Identification
Modeling (physics) of dynamic systems
Experience with Python and MATLAB programming
Software version control using Git
Proficiency in Eagle, Autodesk Fusion 360, FPGA programming in VHDL/Verilog
Experience with high voltage batteries and electric motors and controllers
Acoustic design and analysis for rotating machinery
Background in data science, machine learning, reinforcement learning, etc.
Experience in R&D space
Aerospace experience
