About the Role
Whisper Aero is a next-generation, air propulsion company that delivers thrust more cleanly, efficiently, and quietly than ever before.
Whisper is seeking undergraduate and graduate interns for 2023 Spring, Summer, and Fall internships. Internships are available across all groups, including: Mechanical Design and Manufacturing, Aerodynamic Design, Ground Test, Flight Test, and Product. In the internship role, you will be responsible for developing projects from inception through implementation, owning your work, assisting and learning from engineering mentors, and working across groups. Interns are provided housing and competitive pay.

a leader in university engineering competition teams or organizations
involved in academic research in their field of study

What You’ll Do:
Use first principles to determine the validity of an idea (for example: back-of-the-envelope hand calcs or a basic physics model)
Design mechanical systems, test equipment, aircraft, or computational models
Communicate with other groups to integrate designs and frameworks
Lead design reviews
Be mentored and trained by senior engineers
What You’ll Need:
U.S. Person status is required, as this position may access export controlled data
Pursuing a BS or MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related discipline
Proficient with discipline-specific software: CAD (SolidWorks preferred), Python, LabView, EAGLE, AVL, OpenVSP, FlightStream, MTFLOW, MISES, MSES, Julia, FORTRAN
Experience with projects in field of study
Strong analytical skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
A willingness to work on tasks outside your primary job functions
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience in rapid prototyping, designing to take full advantage of 3D printing tools
Drone or model aircraft experience
Experience designing tooling, test fixtures, and ground equipment
Experience constructing, running, and validating models
Experience designing electronic assemblies
Private Pilot or Remote Pilot Certificate Holder
Passion for aviation
