About the Role

Whisper Aero is a next-generation, air propulsion company that delivers thrust more cleanly, efficiently, and quietly than ever before.
Whisper Aero is seeking a skilled and motivated eNVH engineer to help develop electric motors with minimal air- and structure-borne motor noise. The ideal candidate will work closely with Whisper Aero’s Powertrain Lead and Structural Lead to develop and implement strategies to reduce electromagnetic induced NVH in electric motors.

What You’ll Do

Review noise and vibration generating mechanisms in electric motors from electromagnetic and mechanical sources
Conduct vibro-acoustic analyses of motors to influence the motor design towards a quieter solution
Develop and execute eNVH test plans to validate motor performance and compliance to eNVH goals
Analyze and interpret test results to identify design parameters for optimization
Develop eNVH optimization framework

Basic Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. (or equivalent) in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study
4 years of experience in a related field
Strong understanding of acoustics and vibration principles
Strong background with CAE analysis for design and development
Strong written and verbal communication for effective knowledge sharing
U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data

Bonus Qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience with design and development of electric powertrain units with emphasis on resolving structure- and air-borne noise.
Experience with design / analysis tool development based on first principles using Python, MATLAB, and/or Julia
Experience with electromagnetic analysis tools (Maxwell, Flux, MotorCAD, etc.) to characterize motor excitations.

Application Process

Identify a role that’s a solid fit. We realize that perfect fits are hard to find, so if something doesn’t exactly line up, but you believe you could be the one, you should still consider applying.
Read through our values. We want every one of our team members to be a culture add. This means sharing our core values and the way we work.
Prepare your application. If you’ve found a job fit AND think you’ll be a culture add, we’d love to hear from you.
