About the Role

The purpose of this role is assist the Embedded Systems / Mechatronics team in developing supporting electronics that interact with Whisper’s revolutionary electric propulsors. The candidate will primarily design embedded systems to provide diagnostic data including PCB design and embedded software. Additionally, the candidate will assist the broader Mechatronics team by performing a variety of tasks including CAD, postprocessing parts, and electro-mechanical prototype design.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and debug prototype hardware systems
  • Design Printed Circuit Boards based on prototyped systems
  • Write embedded C drivers and test code
  • Assist in soldering PCBs and broader electrical systems
  • Generate concepts using CAD to support the mechatronics team
  • Integrate electrical and mechanical systems together
  • Communicate with other groups to align work with border company efforts


Basic Qualifications

  • US Person
  • Pursing a BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Proficient with discipline-specific software: PCB Design Software (Altium Preferred), CAD (SolidWorks preferred), C/C++ (various IDEs), python
  • Experience with hands-on projects in field of study

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in rapid prototyping, designing to take full advantage of 3D printing tools
  • Drone or model aircraft experience
  • Experience with PCB design and prototyping of embedded systems
  • Mechanical engineering course work
  • Aerospace engineering course work
  • Experience writing RTOS based programs on embedded systems
  • Experience using Code Composer Studio and/or STM32CubeIDE
  • Experience with embedded linux / raspberry pi
