FC Renew, LLC is developing a renewal process for hydrogen fuel cell stacks for transportation mobility applications particularly toward heavy-duty trucks. We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team. The Laboratory Technician will execute hydrogen fuel cell performance and durability testing to support our process development in accordance with commercial requirements of high performance, long life, and low cost. You will work on our funded R&D projects from the U.S. Army, U.S. Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and LaunchTN.

As Laboratory Technician, your responsibilities include working at our laboratory with the Engineering team at the Spark Innovation Center of the University of Tennessee’s Cherokee Farms Campus in Knoxville, TN. There will be occasional laboratory work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This position will report to the Laboratory Manager and directly to the CEO.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The Laboratory Technician should expect to work hands-on in a variety of relevant projects surrounding hydrogen fuel cells. The Laboratory Technician will work on research, design, prototyping, test, and characterization of cutting-edge hardware. The work will involve:

  • Assembling fuel cell components and systems according to established protocols and guidelines
  • Conducting testing and performance evaluations of fuel cell systems, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation
  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to fuel cell systems and equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing components
  • Maintaining an organized laboratory space and adhering to safety protocols and best practices
  • Performing other duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or vocational certification
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, protocols, and safety procedures in a laboratory setting
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis software
  • Ability to work both independently and in team contexts, comfort with a rapid development pace, and ability to multitask
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Eligible for employment in the United States

Other Job Details:

  • We offer flexible schedules. Given the nature of work, there will be very limited options for teleworking.
  • Up to 5% domestic travel Physical
